2 Chron. 26: 1-5: STUDY: Stay scripturally sound.

2 Chron. 26: 1-5: 1: Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

3 Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper

People start out seeking God with their whole hearts thus receiving the blessings of God while they sought the Lord. The problem today is, many people, and many churches, start out seeking the Lord and the Lord blesses them, but then they start gradually getting off the path by letting the world in. They then end up like Uzziah ( 2Chron.26:20,21 ). Churches today, start out seeking God but later start seeking out ideas of man, seeking out how to grow their church, thus more money. People start out seeking the Lord but later, they start going to another gospel being deceived by all the different doctrines and theological understandings that are not biblical. Churches are being taught by “scripturally intelligent learned men” that the gifts of the spirit are no longer today. That we don’t need to know about bible prophecy, the rapture, or the old testament. By that, we can see they are throwing away much of the bible! Instead, these "learned men" teach the church, how to grow the church. The church needs to be more inclusive, and how to bring in the young people with concert style praise and worship events. Churches now believe you don’t have to depend wholly on the Holy Spirit but believe in yourself, be your best self now. Some go so far as to teach that Jesus was a flawed human, a nice guy, if you will.

People who started out seeking the Lord, left seeking him in HIS WORD to seeking man’s word, with all the false teachings that capture their attention and bring them into that belief. Those false teachings include Hebrew roots, new age, replacement theology, name it claim it, and too many more for me to list now.

As with Uzziah, and his father Amaziah, they both started out seeking the Lord first. Churches and Christians start out seeking the Lord FIRST...but just as Uzziah and Amaziah and many of Israel’s kings, they get blessed with prosperity and start to get prideful and start running to and fro. The lesson here is, stay scripturally sound. Be careful what you believe. Understand your bible well so you can recognize false teachings and what we should run from. Churches and Christians need to cling to God’s word like it’s a matter of life and death…..because it is!
