Bristol schools evacuated after bomb threats across the city

Woodbridge High School also received a threat today, though no students were in the building because it was a professional day, Evelyne Adams said.

West High was being used as a polling station for Tuesday's Johnson County Supervisor special election, but had to be moved due to the evacuation, according to a news release from the Johnson County Auditor's Office.

No evidence was found that lends validity to the threat, the schools tweeted on Tuesday.

Ryan said that SWAT officers, also known as tactical officers, are not part of the police response. Law enforcement is investigating the threats to determine a possible link. A school official could not immediately be reached for comment.

Police responded to a bomb threat at Ayer-Shirley High School Tuesday morning. We understand that we were not the only school who received a call of this nature.

A number of schools in the Delmarva region have been receiving threats to local schools over the last week.

The student body is being dismissed from the school "house-by-house", Ryan said.

Ryan told The Globe that law enforcement concluded the threat had "low credibility" but that Bodie made a decision to shut down for the day given that the threat talked about targeting students.

The threat said that bombs in backpacks would explode in the school and that students would be shot after the explosions, Police Chief Fred Ryan told reporters.

Last week, several schools received bomb threats via robocalls and went into lockdown or closed early.

The threat was investigated but the school was not evacuated. The voicemail was retrieved Tuesday morning before school started.
