A student at Pennbrook Middle School in North Wales, Pennsylvania, was left hospitalized after being attacked by a trans-identified male student with a Stanley Cup on Wednesday afternoon.
Surveillance video from the school cafeteria showed a seventh-grade girl walking when the accused student approached her and began beating her in the head with a Stanely cup, according to 6ABC, a local news network. Witnesses to the events said the girl's head was beaten until she bled.
According to Reduxx, the student in question is a trans-identified male who went by the name "Melanie" and had recently been transferred to the school.
The aftermath of the incident saw over 50 concerned people attend a North Penn School District meeting Thursday night, seeking answers and expressing their worries about the safety of students at the school.
"This was avoidable and the district truly failed to protect the students at Pennbrook," one parent at the meeting said. "What are we supposed to say to our children after this? How do I send him back to school?"
"I just don't know what went wrong. How did it get to this point? I would like answers on that," another parent commented.
While the school district remained silent on the specific concerns raised during the meeting, officials did confirm that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Upper Gwynedd police characterized the attack as "unprovoked, sudden, violent."
Recalling the troubling incident, one student recalled hearing screaming and witnessing the victim being attacked with the Stanley Cup.
"I just hear all this screaming and everybody running. All of sudden you just hear these terrible loud bangs of the Stanley bouncing off her head," the student explained. "We had to sit in there and watch them clean up the blood off those tables and ground, and we had to watch them take her out with blood dripping down her face and I will never forget that."
The accused student was reportedly enrolled at Pennbrook Middle School for only three days as a new student. Parents at the school district meeting claimed that the student is allegedly a male who identifies as female, however local news outlets have failed to report the identity of the accused student.
One student claimed that he attended the previous school the accuser attended, stating that the student pulled a knife on him. However, the school superintendent denied the transfer of the student.
Hi Linda. I hope you are well. This hits close to home. I was unaware it even happened. I pray to God for his protection of all children from all evil in this world now. God bless and protect you and your son and family. Thanks for posting. Joyce L
