Baby boy and girl, 5, among five dead in horror massacre as police suspect murder-suicide

In a shocking incident police have confirmed that five people including three adults and two young children have been tragically killed in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

Officers were called to an apartment around 7.30pm local time for a wellness check.

Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of a five-year-old girl and a one-year-old baby boy among the victims. The adults were identified as a 43-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman.

The horrific shooting in DeKalb County, Atlanta, Georgia, US, is believed to be a result of a domestic dispute, with investigations still ongoing. Details are scarce at this point.

This tragic event follows another murder-suicide in Indiana where a man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself, all in front of their wounded child. Police in Portage, Indiana, found three people shot inside a residential home in what they described as a murder-suicide domestic incident, reports the Mirror US.

Police officers reported that Brandy Manville, 46, was killed by her husband, Charles Manville, 45, who was found dead from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. A third victim, a 21 year old woman later identified as the couple's daughter, was found alive despite being shot and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to the report, the 911 caller stated that her father was drunk and throwing items around the house, before reporting that he was armed with a gun. The operator told police that they heard a man screaming that everyone in the house was going to die.

The operator then stated that the sound of gunfire was heard on the call, just as police were approaching the residence. Officers also reported hearing gunfire as they approached the home.

Responding officers managed to force entry into the home, where they discovered the three bodies. Records show that prior to her death, Manville worked as an administrative assistant at Portage High School.

Police stated that they are still unsure what led to the killings. "...We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victims of this shocking crime," said local authorities, expressing their condolences for the devastating loss.

In a statement, Portage High School praised Brandy for her dedication to her students and the impact she had on those who knew her. "I have 2,200 kids. Almost everyone of them know who Mrs Manville is, so as you might understand, it's going to be whatever the kids need as much. As we preach education, it will be secondary this week," Principal Michael Stills told WGN News shortly after the tragic announcement of her death.
