Democrats Vote to Fund Infanticide, Support Clinics That Refuse Care for Babies Born Alive
( Lifesite )
For the first time this year, members of the House of Representatives voted on whether they support infanticide.
Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats continue to refuse a request to allow a vote on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, legislation that would stop infanticide and provide medical care and treatment for babies who survive abortions. They’ve blocked the Born Alive bill 37 times now — but votes have never been cast since the block merely comes in the form of the presiding officer denying a vote.
But today House Democrats finally cast a vote on infanticide.
During markup of government funding legislation in the House Appropriations Committee today.
LHHS Ranking Member Tom Cole (R-OK) offered an amendment to withhold funds to any medical entity that does not ensure that any infant born alive following an abortion receives the same medical care as any other infant born at the same gestational age. Every Republican voted for the pro-life amendment to stop infanticide while every Democrat on the committee, except Texas Democrat Henry Cuellar, voted for infanticide.
During the debate, Appropriations Ranking Member Kay Granger (R-TX) said, “I believe every newborn child has value and should be protected.”
Meanwhile, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) recounted how, when she was pregnant with her oldest child, doctors said the baby had 100% chance of dying. Instead, her daughter survived and has a full life ahead of her. She also pushed back against claims that babies never survive abortion attempts, telling the stories of survivors like Gianna Jessen.
In the end, Democrats supported infanticide. See the members of the committee here.
