TRIUMPH OVER TEMPTATION

In this life, everyone is bombarded with temptation. These days, the enemy exposes us and our children to vile content in all forms of media. There are satanic kids' shows and there is vile music -- ungodliness everywhere. There is promotion of all manner of abominations. Satan also attacks our minds, he whispers into our ears to lead us astray. But don’t think he’s attacked just us -- he had the audacity to tempt Jesus Himself. "Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, "It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:1-4). Notice that Jesus shows us how to do warfare: Confront the devil with the word of God. "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword…" (Hebrews 4:12). When we are tempted, we can go to scripture and proclaim it in Jesus' name. This is the example our Savior gave us, and it is worth our while to take note. He does not leave us powerless; instead, we have the word of God to triumph over darkness.
