Today is the day Christians celebrate resurrection Sunday. We know about what Jesus went through in Passion week. We know that He knew He was going to die a horrible death. He knew what kind of suffering He was going to go thru but guess what….He did it anyway.

I will talk more about resurrection day but first I want to talk about the world we live in today. The world is filled with such fear of dying from some virus that most people will survive, yet they are horrified. So much so that they line up to take a jab that could kill them. Most of the worldly people have no belief in a “here after” so perhaps that’s why they fear so!? This short life span is all there is for them so they don’t want to leave it so soon. What a sad life. We are here for such a short time and if that’s all there is, why bother? So, they are scared to death of death. People need to get a grip and see that what they fear is fear itself! But, Jesus was also afraid. He even prayed so hard that He sweat blood. Let this cup pass from me, was His prayer but He knew He came to keep us from hell and an eternity in hell would have been much worse than His horrible passion week. So, He did it just for us. So, we should not be afraid of anything this world throws at us. Be like Paul in Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. We all know we have a work to do for the kingdom while we are here. That is our ministry too. Just like Paul’s ministry, testify the gospel of the grace of God….we should keep our minds on that and not some worldly fears.

When we read 1 Cor. 15, we find Paul teaching the risen Christ. Read v.13: But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: The entire chapter talks about the resurrection in relation to faith, pastors, and the like 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Paul even goes so far as to say in v17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. So, Christ knew He had to die and Christ knew He must rise from the dead to be Christ the God.

But one other thing that took place on that resurrection and that was his ascension into heaven.

I believe the ascension of Christ is a type and shadow of the rapture. Acts. 1:9-11:

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

For me, this was proof of the rapture. Doesn’t matter how others want to spin scripture, but our Jesus is showing us that this is how it will happen. Remember, God used types and shadows all throughout the bible and this would be no different. He’s making His point so that all who need to see it in the flesh would see it. So, I believe this day, today, is an encouraging day for us. He is coming in like manner! Let’s shout “He is risen” because we should rejoice over that!
