42-Year-Old Nashville Woman Killed in I-40 Hit-and-Run; Police Seek Multiple Drivers

The female pedestrian struck and killed on I-40 West near Old Hickory Boulevard Tuesday at 12:30 a.m. is identified as Melena Sanderson, 42, of Nashville.

The preliminary investigation shows that she exited a gray SUV and walked onto the interstate from the right shoulder. Sanderson was struck by a burgundy sedan that did not stop and then by several other vehicles. The driver of the SUV that she exited from also left the scene. Only the driver of a Fiat, who witnessed the collision, remained.

The burgundy sedan will have heavy front end damage, windshield damage, and possibly damage to the roof. Anyone with information about the driver/occupants of the sedan, gray SUV, or other involved vehicles/witnesses is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
