In a “very rough day” for Jeff Bezos, an uncrewed rocket belonging to the billionaire’s space tech company Blue Origin exploded into a massive fireball last night during a launchpad test.

  • What went down: Footage of the explosion showed the 320-foot-tall New Glenn rocket igniting on the pad at Cape Canaveral, Fla., at around 9 p.m. local time, before bursting into flames, engulfing the surrounding area. Watch a video. [Yahoo News]

  • Bezos weighs in: The Amazon founder said everyone was accounted for and safe. "It's too early to know the root cause but we're already working to find it," he said in a post on social media. "Very rough day, but we'll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It's worth it." [BBC News]
