Anarchist website targets ICE agents, posts blueprints of Chicago facilities: federal bulletin

Federal law enforcement bulletins have warned that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and facilities in Chicago are being targeted by an anarchist website.

The Center for Internet Security issued an assessment that revealed at least four ICE facilities in Chicago have been surveilled, with detailed layouts, diagrams, and photos posted on an anarchist website. The site also published photos of ICE agents, including their names, faces, and badge numbers. 

"There has been an increase in the attempt to gather and, you know, anonymously, share and gather information online and publish it even on websites publicly available about these activities," explained Jason Perry, a cybersecurity professor at Lewis University, according to ABC7 Chicago.

Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a separate intelligence bulletin advising ICE personnel of a rise in threats from domestic violent extremists. This comes after an ICE facility in Texas was the subject of a shooting carried out by an anti-ICE gunman. ICE agents have reportedly been facing a more than 1,000 percent increase in assaults.

Chicago has recently seen several violent incidents targeting federal immigration authorities. Last week, border patrol officers were ambushed when individuals rammed their vehicles into federal agents. One of the suspects, identified as Marimar Martinez, was armed and had a history of doxxing federal agents.

On Monday, federal agents arrested a gang leader accused of offering bounties to capture and kill a senior immigration officer involved in “Operation Midway Blitz,” an ongoing immigration enforcement effort in Chicago. The suspect, Juan Espinoza Martinez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, allegedly placed a $10,000 bounty on Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino.
