An anti-ICE agitator who is charged with biting an ICE officers at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in New Jersey is the same person from Morris County previously charged with "sexual abuse of children related to the dissemination and possession of child pornography." Brendan John Geier, 26, was charged on Friday for "allegedly kicking and biting ICE officers at Delaney Hall" earlier in the week.
The Delaney Hall ICE facility has been the location of protests by those who oppose immigration enforcement. Detainees from inside the facility, who would be permitted to leave so long as they do not have a criminal record and are heading home to theri country of origin, have allegedly been on a hunger strike. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin specified that they have been complaining at the lack of ethnic food.
"Today @TheJusticeDept charged rioter Brendan John Geier for allegedly kicking and biting ICE officers at Delaney Hall last night. We will not tolerate the vicious attacks on ICE officers we’ve seen in New Jersey the last few days. These riots are clearly not 'peaceful protests' as you can see from the photos of these horrific wounds. Assault a federal officer, you’ll be held accountable," Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a post.
According to the DOJ, "At approximately 10:30 p.m., a large group of demonstrators was blocking that road. Deportation officers, in an attempt to clear the road, formed into a line and began to move towards the group of demonstrators, which included Geier. The deportation officers issued commands to the demonstrators to 'move back,' but the demonstrators, including Geier, ignored those commands and refused to clear the road. Geier instead engaged in a struggle with deportation officers, kicking officers and ultimately biting an officer’s forearm, and another’s knuckle. Both victims received treatment at a local hospital."
Andy Ngo provided more details.
Geier was previously been arrested in Berks County, PA for child sex crimes. These charges included counts of possession of child pornography as well as uploading the child sexual abuse material. His arrest came after a 2018 tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to police arrest records. He later pleaded guilty to Criminal Use of a Communication Facility in a plea deal. At the time, he was sentenced to only two years of probation by Judge Patrick T. Barrett in 2021.
Geier was 19 at the time of his 2019 charges.
Investigators seized a laptop, computer, and iPhone and discovered that numerous images were found to be suspected child pornography. Geier was reportedly attending Kutztown University at the time.
The scene at Delaney Hall has been chaotic over the last week, with riots and clashes between anti-ICE agitators and law enforcement. On Friday evening, reporter Cam Higby was also robbed of his phone and other equipment that was then smashed by the rioters.
