A small group of anti-Israel activists attempted to storm a Jewish event near the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday. The radicals temporarily disrupted the event but were blocked from entering an event put on by Agudath Israel of America.
The event focused on growing voter turnout in the Orthodox Jewish community and rising antisemitism in the US. According to The Times of Israel, the event included speeches by Democratic Sen. Debby Stabanow, Rep. Josh Gottheimer, New Jersey governor Phil Murphy and the chairman of the DNC host committee.
The masked activists called for the end of Israel, chanting, “Brick by brick, wall by wall, Zionism has got to fall” and shouted “Shame on you” at participants.
Many advocacy groups host events near conventions and invite politicians to speak, However, organizers of Jewish events at the DNC have had to refrain from publicizing the location of events due to the anti-Israel activists.
Thousands of anti-Israel activists have swarmed the streets of Chicago for the DNC. On Tuesday night, pro-Hamas radicals clashed with police outside the Israeli consulate in Chicago while the convention was underway at the nearby United Center. Agitators were seen burning the American flag and attacking journalist Ben Bergquam when he attempted to remove the flag from the flames.
Prominent Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have attempted to play up the idea of a unified Democratic Party even as far-left activists riot in the streets outside the convention.
