Antifa uses anti-ICE protests to recruit, radicalize new members in Oregon

Antifa has been actively recruiting new members for its left-wing extremist organization during anti-ICE demonstrations in Oregon. On February 5, militant anarchists disseminated radicalization propaganda materials at an open borders protest at the state's capitol in Salem. This event was part of a series of coordinated demonstrations nationwide advocating for the elimination of President Donald Trump's border security measures. 

The booklets and pamphlets dispersed by Antifa serve as introductory materials to their extremist ideology. Comparable texts are disseminated during their coordinated direct actions and riots, as well as during their occupation of spaces, such as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in Seattle in 2020. At least one of the documents was a booklet produced by the Oregon Justice Resource Center, an Antifa-affiliated legal organization that receives public funding through state grants allocated by Democratic officials.

Antifa has a history of participating in anti-ICE demonstrations, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, and carrying out acts of extreme violence, including a 2019 firebombing terror attack at an ICE detention center in Tacoma, Washington. An independent videographer, identified as Chelly Boufferache, was violently targeted by leftist demonstrators while documenting the protest in Salem.

According to video footage posted to X, Boufferache was physically surrounded and harassed by leftists who demanded she leave the premises. At least one individual spat on her. Boufferache told The Post Millennial that she was physically targeted after allegedly being confronted by Portland Antifa ringleader, Alissa Azar, a convicted felon, who she claims "body checked" her.

On January 20, the night of President Trump's inauguration, Antifa militants launched a targeted attack on the ICE Detention Center in Portland, Oregon. Video footage posted to X shows black-clad anarchists setting fires outside the property and harassing officers. The militants concealed their identities behind black facial coverings and vandalized the property with Antifa graffiti, according to videos and photos shared on social media.

This is the same ICE facility that has been relentlessly targeted by the leftist extremist group over the years, beginning with Trump's first term in office. It has also served as the site of numerous confrontations between protesters and federal law enforcement officers. In April 2021, members of the black bloc Antifa faction set the building on fire as a demonstration against border security policies and left officers trapped inside.

The extremist group has vowed to carry out more similar attacks. The anti-ICE demonstrations follow President Donald Trump's border security executive orders, which include mass deportation operations that have been seen as controversial by Democratic voters in so-called "sanctuary states."
