CA professor Loay Alnaji arrested, charged with involuntary manslaughter after death of Jewish man

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Jewish man, Paul Kessler, who was hit in the head while counter-protesting a pro-Palestine demonstration.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department announced on Thursday that Loay Abdelfattah Alnaji was arrested that morning in connection with the death of Paul Kessler.

Alnaji, a Muslim computer science professor who teaches at California State University Northridge and Moorpark College, was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on involuntary manslaughter charges.

His bail has been set at $1 million.

The 69-year-old Kessler was struck in the head while waving an Israel flag on November 5 in protest of a pro-Palestinian demonstration.

Kessler was seen lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood, and was rushed to the hospital. The medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide.
