A teenager who underwent a double mastectomy she now regrets slammed President Joe Biden for vocalizing his support for so-called “gender-affirming” drugs and surgeries for minors.
Last month, President Biden sat down with transgender TikToker Dylan Mulvaney and was asked about his stance on states that seek to ban gender reassignment treatments for children.
“Sometimes they try to block you from being able to access certain medicines, being able to access certain procedures and so on,” Biden said. “I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that. As a moral question and as a legal question, I just think it’s wrong.”
“What Biden was saying is dangerous,” says 18-year-old Chloe Cole, who has detransitioned after undergoing hormone treatments and surgery. “He’s trying to advocate for further experimentation on children.”
The New York Post notes that Cole began identifying as a boy when she was 12. She began hormone drugs, including puberty blockers, when she was just 13 and by 15, underwent a double mastectomy.
By age 16, however, she began to regret what she’d done and transitioned back. Now, she works to raise awareness about the dangers of subjecting children to gender-affirming “medicine.”
“I was failed by the system. I literally lost organs,” she has told The Post in the past.
Cole thinks that President Biden is mostly coming out in favor of gender-affirming surgeries for children for the sake of political expediency, as concerns are growing within the medical community that the treatments may be unsafe.
“I seriously doubt he actually believes in it,” Cole said. “He’s an elderly man and his stances on things have been very inconsistent over the years.”
The young woman also criticized Mulvaney, who has publicly documented his transition to a female identity on TikTok. The social media star, known for a flamboyantly feminine style and bubbly personality, has been accused by some of reducing “girlhood” to superficial female stereotypes and thus undermining real, authentic womanhood.
“As a teenage girl I find it very insulting that [Dylan is] basically trying to pick and choose parts of the female experience in almost a sexualized manner,” Cole added.
