Dozens were injured in the UK after a van plowed through parading Liverpool FC soccer fans in what horrified witnesses described as an “incredibly deliberate” and violent incident.

The vehicle — a gray livery-style van — slammed into “a number of pedestrians on Water Street” around 6 p.m. Monday as a parade celebrating the soccer club’s Premier League championship win was wrapping up, according to police.

At least 20 people were treated for injuries at the scene while 27 were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, with two — including one child — in critical condition.

Of the injured, four were kids, including one who was among four people trapped beneath the van when it finally came to a standstill in the crowd, police said. First responders were forced to lift the vehicle to extract those people.

The driver of the car has been detained and was identified by police as a 53-year-old white British male from the Liverpool area.

“We are not currently looking for anyone else in relation,” police said at a press conference after the ramming, adding that it appeared to be an isolated incident.

“The incident is not being treated as terrorism,” police added.

Thousands of Liverpudlians had begun filling the streets as the parade ended, when the van suddenly swerved among them and sent bodies flying in the air and tumbling under its wheels, according to witness accounts and harrowing video of the incident.

It remains unclear whether the crash was intentional, but authorities asked people not to draw conclusions about what happened until more details are released.

“We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city center,” cops repeatedly urged.

Frightening early footage appeared to show the van at a standstill and surrounded by revelers as it honked its horn, before people came up to it and began kicking and punching its windows.

The vehicle then lurched in reverse before accelerating into the crowd, sending bodies flying over its hood before being mobbed by bystanders and forced to a stop.

One witness saw a victim launch “about 20 feet in the air,” but thought the incident started as an accident before quickly getting out of hand.

“People started banging on the [car] windows,” 55-year-old Len Winsper told the Guardian. “Then they smashed the windows, and he panicked and put his foot down. He then hit someone, and that person has gone in the air, and he’s (plowed) through the rest of them. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

But some witnesses called the accident “clearly deliberate.”

“It was horrible. And you could hear the bumps as he was going over the people,” said 48-year-old Harry Rashid, who brought his young daughters to the parade and was about 10 feet from the car when it suddenly swerved into the crowd.

“He put his foot down again and just plowed through the rest of them,” he told Sky News. “Then my daughter started screaming, and there were people on the ground. It looked clearly deliberate.”

Others described scenes of violent carnage and confusion.

“It was so loud. People sounded desperate,” said Natasha Rinaldi, who was watching the parade from a friend’s home along the route when she said the car began running people over.

“We could just hear screams and screams. We were very confused. Some of my friends were down there and the car was so near them. It was a horrible scene, nobody was expecting it,” she said.

As responders arrived on the scene, nearby restaurants and storefronts were converted into makeshift field hospitals, according to the Guardian, where witnesses described seeing dozens of people covered in blood and bandages being treated.

Responders remained on the scene hours later, where the barren parade route was littered with refuse from the celebration gone awry.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the incident “appalling.”

“The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected,” he said in a statement.

NBA star LeBron James — a minority owner of the Liverpool team — shared prayers for the victims.

“My deepest thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone affected that attended @LFC Premiere League trophy parade today! Such a senseless act!” he wrote on X.

The incident is just the latest bloody day in Liverpool’s soccer history.

In 1989, 97 people were killed and hundreds were injured during a crush at Hillsborough Stadium believed to be caused by poor crowd control logistics.
