Explosive device detonated outside Republican Alabama AG’s office

On Saturday, an explosive device was reportedly detonated outside the office of Republican Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

According to AL.com, no one was injured and no property was damaged, but an investigation is underway.

The explosion occurred early Saturday morning near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said that the State Bureau of Investigation was informed about the explosion at approximately 8:19 am Monday.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) troopers assigned to the agency’s Protective Services Division, special agents assigned to ALEA’s Hazardous Device Unit, ATF agents and Montgomery police responded to the scene and determined that the suspicious package was an explosive

device that was detonated early Saturday.

Marshall said in a statement, “In the early hours of Saturday, February 24, an explosive device was detonated outside of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office building in Montgomery. Thankfully, no staff or personnel were injured by the explosion.”

“The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will be leading the investigation, and we are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately.”
