A MAN is being questioned by federal authorities in connection with the brazen assassination of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a New York City hotel, according to reports.
The unidentified man is being held for questioning by investigators in Altoona, Pennsylvania, about 280 miles west of the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan, where Thompson was gunned down on December 4.
Investigators received a tip from a customer at a McDonald's in Altoona, about 98 miles east of Pittsburgh, on Monday, who reported the suspicious man to police, according to NBC News.
Police took the man in for questioning, and at the station, authorities found a silencer, a firearm, and several fake IDs, NBC News reported.
The gun was described as a similar firearm used in Thompson's assassination, NBC News reported.
Thompson, 50, was fatally shot in cold blood at around 6:45 am on December 4 as he arrived for an investor conference at the Hilton hotel.
Shocking surveillance footage captured the moment a masked and hooded gunman snuck up behind Thompson and unloaded several shots.
Thompson died after being shot multiple times in the back and leg, New York Police said.
