A group of juveniles, including a 7-year-old wielding a hatchet, robbed a group of teenage girls in Seattle.
According to the Seattle Police Department, on Monday the five teenage girls were harassed and robbed by the juveniles after riding a Seattle Metro Bus.
As the bus drove southbound on Wallingford Avenue North, the suspects, ages 7 to 17, began mocking the teenage victims about their white privilege.
The 15-year-old girls decided to get off the bus at North 82nd Street, but the suspects followed them, surrounded the teens, and began demanding their money while using foul language.
During the incident, a 7-year-old suspect wielding a hatchet threatened the girls while another suspect, who was carrying a baby, stole cash from one of the victims' handbag.
The victims were allowed to leave after the robbery but were chased by the juvenile crminals when they began using their phones.
They ducked into a nearby ice cream shop and reported the incident to the police.
Law enforcement are asking the public for any information that might lead to identifying the suspects.
The King County Prosecutor’s office told The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI that even if the suspects are found and apprehended, children under the age of eight cannot be charged with a crime because of state law RCW 9A.04.050 that reads “children under the age of eight years are incapable of committing crime.” However, Child Protective Services would be notified.
