Shatayvia Alisha Calderon shot her 9-year-old son Julian then herself on Monday afternoon in Indianapolis in what is believed to be a murder-suicide, police said. But Calderon had previously shared a fundraiser for notorious child-killer Lindsay Clancy's husband, who was left with his family destroyed after Clancy strangled their three children, then tried to kill herself in their Duxbury, MA home in January 2024.

Calderon was a "proud educator" according to her Facebook posts. She and her son were found dead at the scene.

Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired at a condominium, said Indianapolis Metro PD. When officers entered the home in the building complex on Village Lane, both Calderon and her son were deceased with a firearm nearby.

"This is unthinkable," said a statement from IMPD, "and we're here to not only investigate but to provide resources as well. Not only here on the scene, but in the days, weeks that follow this." Officers have been interviewing a witness to gain an understanding of what transpired.

"We’d like to remind our community of available resources for those struggling with mental health or thoughts of suicide," the statement read.

Calderon's Facebook page is full of photos of herself and her son, showing visits to parks and school events. In 2020, she also posted a black square to support the Black Lives Matter movement along with quotes about systemic racism and microaggressions.  Another post stated, "respect trans people, protect trans rights."

She also posted about suicide, sharing a post in 2019 about World Suicide Day that spoke about the scourge of suicide for young men. A comment on that post reads, "rest in peace girl."

Lindsay Clancy was tried for the murder of her three children, whom she killed by strangulation with exercise bands in January 2024 in their home. After killing the children, ages 8 months to 5 years, she slit her wrists and her throat and jumped out a second-story window. Her husband, Patrick, found her there and called 911. A call with dispatchers records him finding the bodies of his children, as well.

Clancy's murder trial ended in a mistrial after one juror refused to deliver a verdict that she was not guilty by reason of insanity. Some jurors voted for not guilty so that she could, as one juror relayed, get the help she needed.
