A HOUSE DIVIDED

By: Linda Kirby/WGON

Matthew 12:25 -- “Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, 'Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.'“ We see our country, churches, and families divided over the many issues of the day. Is it any wonder that our country has become weak, openly corrupt, and filled with abominations? Evildoers and the deceived attempt to spread their narrative in hateful ways. As followers of Christ, we are not to submit to an evil agenda, nor should we try to convince them otherwise by being unkind. They have taught the people that contempt and disdain is the way to make others fall in line. So, everyone who has been led astray is now on board with rudeness and outright hate. Many who do not want to choose evil have started using that tool as well. We must not allow these narratives to divide us as a nation, community, or family. Jesus said, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” -- Matt. 10:16 We must be wise with our words so as not to cause division or harm. More than ever before, our words must be sprinkled with love, mercy, and peace. Proverbs 16:24 -- “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” If you want healing in the land, kind words will do that. Division is an abomination to God (Prov. 6: 16-19). We can see why when we look around this nation today. Our house is divided, but we Christians shouldn’t partake of the animosity. We must be the salt and light and show others mercy. We can’t lead others to Christ with hate coming from our mouths. Division only destroys, but our nation can be healed with love.
