Have you noticed that when you go into the bathroom, you seem to hear from the Holy Spirit more easily? Many do—whether they’re showering or sitting on the throne. There’s something about that space. The masks come off. We’re lowered to a position of vulnerability and humility. The bathroom is the great equalizer. No one’s on a high horse in there—it’s been stabled outside. We’re brought low, right where we always should be… humble.
While you’re showering or seated, do you talk to the Lord? Do you use that idle time to be honest with yourself and with Him? Do you lift others up in prayer from your porcelain prayer closet? Prayer Closets Don’t Need Stained Glass, you know.
And if you’re a singer, you already know—bathroom acoustics are unmatched. The sound bounces just right. Let your praises ring out. The tiles will sing along with you.
The porcelain throne you’re sitting on isn’t the throne you’ve been promised. If you want to receive that throne, you’ve got to spend time with the One who sits on His.
Remember what Jesus told the Pharisees:
“I tell you, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” —Luke 19:40
That moment happened as Jesus entered Jerusalem to shouts of joy. The Pharisees wanted to silence the crowd, but Jesus made it clear—if people stopped praising, creation itself would take up the song.
So let the tiles cry out. Let your praises echo off the porcelain. When you sit on that porcelain throne, you’re not just taking a break—you’re being positioned to receive. Humbled. Undistracted. Wide open to the whisper of the Holy Spirit.
So next time you step into your porcelain prayer closet, remember: the high horse is stabled outside. You’re entering a throne room. And in that sacred space, the tiles are ready to sing with you.
What a great idea on how to properly use the bathroom.
