A Kentucky man has been charged with sex crimes against animals after police said he had sex with a dead deer. A witness spotted the suspect, later identified as Allen Osbourne, on the side of the road with the deceased animal.

Officials with the Central City Policer Department said that a man was going through Muhlenberg County, Kentucky when he called 911 and notified authorities that he saw a man who appeared to be having sexual intercourse with the dead deer on Saturday.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw the man covered in blood as well as deer fur, and identified him as Osbourne. At the time, he still had his pants down. He was taken into custody and then charged with sexual crimes against animals, according to ABC 13. When they brought him to the local jail for booking, officers observed that he also had blood and deer hair around his genitals.

Authorities said that the charge is a class D felony in the state, and Osbourne faces one to five years in prison if found guilty. The law supporting the charge was put into effect in June 2019 in Kentucky.

Those convicted of sex crimes against animals, according to the law cannot "harbor, own, possess, or exercise control over any animal, reside in any household where animals are present, or work or volunteer in a place where the person has unsupervised access to animals for a minimum of five (5) years after completion of the imposed sentence" and must "relinquish custody of all animals under the person's control."

Osbourne is being held on a $5,000 bond, per court records. He is set to be arraigned in Muhlenberg District Court on Monday.
