Progressive podcaster Jennifer Welch on Monday suggested that the Democrat Party needs to "jump on board" with calling for conservatives to be killed. The comment came after she played a clip of a woman saying she was "glad" that Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is dead.
Welch played a clip of Kaitlin Bennett out interviewing people at October’s No King’s march, in which one woman told Bennett that Kirk was "horrible," adding, "I’m glad he’s not here."
Bennett asked the woman, "You’re glad he is dead?" The woman replied, "Yes." The woman said Kirk was "horrible on the campuses, the college campuses. Horrible person."
Bennett said she did the "exact same thing" as Kirk, asking the woman, "would you be glad if I would die?" The woman said, "maybe, I’d have to think about it," as Welch is heard laughing in the background. Bennett turned to another woman and told her, "Your friend just said she’d be happy id I died."
Cutting back to Welch, she said, "so listen up Democratic establishment: you can either jump on board with this sh*t or we’re coming after you in the same way that we come after MAGA, period."
The video was played amongst Welch’s comments on a recent rally for socialist NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, in which she criticised Democratic leadership in Congress for not being at the rally.
"Kudos to Bernie, to AOC, to Zohran, and that woman out in somewhere middle America saying 'f*ck Charlie Kirk, he was a racist, he was a piece of sh*t.’ There are so many more of us than there are of them and these Democrats that continue to play patty cake with corporations and lobbyists, nobody wants that. Nobody wants you."
Welch’s comments came ahead of a hearing held by a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday regarding political violence in the United States. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution Chairman Eric Schmitt opened the hearing with a clip of Charlie Kirk conducted just months before his assassination, in which Kirk spoke on the rise of left-leaning Americans supporting the killing of political figures.
"We are seeing a disturbing pattern from the radical left, and we have data to now support it. According to the National Contagion Research Institute, 48 percent of left-of-center respondents say that it’s justified to murder Elon Musk. 53 percent say that it would be justified to murder President Donald Trump. There are ballot measures in California that are being measured by far left activists, that are being named, I should say, after Luigi Mangione."
"We have to take a step back here and ask our question, what’s really going on here? There’s a deeper thing than just political disagreement. If you are on the front lines, like our Turning Point USA students, you are potentially putting your safety, your well-being, and, God forbid, your life in jeopardy for simply being a conservative on a college campus."
