An anti-ICE activist in Salt Lake City admitted in front of the city council earlier this week that there is a 20,000-member ICE watch group in the blue city within the GOP-led state of Utah to dox the locations of federal officers. The revelation of the ICE Watch network comes as there has been a left-wing backlash against ICE in the wake of the shooting of Renee Good, who was killed when she ran her car into an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

The Salt Lake City activist, who only went by "TJ" in the public appearance on Tuesday, said, "My name is TJ. I’m a resident of Salt Lake City. I am uniquely informed about ICE activity, as I’ve been running a virtual ICE Watch with over 20,000 local, mostly Latino, community members for 356 days now. It’s community-led. People send me photos and tips, and I verify the information."

She went on to claim, "Over the year, we’ve witnessed repeated disregard for both constitutional and human rights of hardworking, tax-paying, beloved community members—the majority of whom have no criminal record at all. "We’ve seen federalized agents lie repeatedly about incidents to try and drum up federal charges. We’ve seen them force random store customers to lie on the ground and hold them at gunpoint. We’ve seen them kidnap a woman with legal status to get her husband to surrender in her place."

The woman added that families who have experienced this are "too afraid to share" and said that many of the immigration raids take place on the west side of Salt Lake City, which is more commonly known for crime. She alleged that ICE agents have been violating "Amendment rights" with "warrantless racially profiled stops and unreasonable searches."

TJ then called on the Salt Lake City council to help them in their efforts to avoid ICE and made an appeal to the Salt Lake City Police Department to do more.
