Rapper Lil Nas X has been charged with four felonies in relation to his Thursday arrest after he was seen walking down Los Angeles’ Ventura Boulevard in just underwear and cowboy boots, and later completely naked. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Old Town Road singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery with injury and one count of resisting an executive officer, all felonies, per Variety. Judge Sarah Ellenberg set bail at $75,000. He was released from jail on Monday afternoon.
Police said that they responded to an incoherent, nude 26-year-old man at around 5:50 am on Thursday, taking him into custody. He was transferred to a hospital on suspicion of a potential drug overdose. Video showed Hill walking down Ventura Boulevard stripped down to his underwear with just cowboy boots on. TMZ later released footage showing the singer completely naked in the streets closer to the time of his arrest.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said, "Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be."
Per TMZ, Hill has been ordered not to own, use, or process illegal narcotics and enroll in an outpatient program as part of his bail. Hill’s father, Robert Stafford, said that his son is "very remorseful for what happened," per NBC News. "He’s going to get the help that he needs, and just keep him in your prayers. Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone."
Lil Nas X has previously come under fire for a pair of shoes he launched that featured real blood and satanic themes, as well as for his Montero (Call Me By Your Name) music video, in which the star gives satan a lap dance.
