Man stabs woman to death at Brooklyn park barbecue in front of her 7-year-old son after she refused his sexual advances: police

A maniac stabbed a mother to death in front of her 7-year-old son at a Brooklyn park because she was turning down his advances for sex, according to authorities. Police are still searching for the suspect.

Shakeema Davis, 30, was stabbed repeatedly by the suspect around 12:41 am at the Lincoln Terrace–Arthur S. Somers Park in Crown Heights, according to police. The incident took place during a barbecue that she organized with others. 

The suspect showed up and tried to make sexual advances on her, but she denied them, leading him to become enraged. “He shows up to the location,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said, per the New York Post. “Throughout the course of the evening, everybody’s hanging out, drinking, smoking, listening to music. Our eventual stabber keeps soliciting her – our victim – for sex. She keeps saying no. They’re arguing. It’s verbal. It turns physical.”

“After she throws a drink on him, he begins to assault her,” the chief added. “She actually picks up the barbecue in an attempt to get him away from her and strikes him with the barbecue. Once he’s struck with the barbecue, he pulls out a knife and stabs her three times, causing her death.”

Davis was transported to the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she died. Authorities have identified a person of interest in the case in addition to the car used to possibly flee the scene. However, they do not have enough probable cause to arrest the suspect. “We believe the stabber and the victim did have a prior relationship, which is why he was invited to the party, which is why he was consistently basically annoying her for sex,” Kenney added. 

Around 15 to 20 people were at the gathering when the incident took place. Some tried to apprehend the suspect, but "the guy kept swinging the knife" at them, Kenny added.
