Massachusetts woman arrested outside Lindsay Clancy trial for allegedly filming jurors: report

A 56-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly photographed jurors in the Lindsey Clancy trial Tuesday.

Dawn Light, 56, of Sutton, Massachusetts, was taken into custody outside Plymouth District Court, and she is being charged with intimidation of a witness, juror or person providing information in connection with a criminal proceeding.

Light, who is a self-described crime junkie and Clancy supporter, was arrested after jurors had been dismissed for the day after failing to come to a verdict, CT Insider reported. 

Prior to her arraignment Wednesday morning, Light told CT Insider she had been trying to record Clancy leaving the courthouse, and when she realized the person she was filming wasn't Clancy, she immediately lowered her phone.

A court employee approached her, Light said, and asked if she worked at the courthouse. The employee asked Light for her driver's license and phone. She provided her license but refused to hand over her phone, she said. At that point, the employee called a state trooper who confiscated her phone and arrested her.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, strangled Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, who was 8 months old, on Jan. 24, 2023. Afterward, she threw herself out a window, becoming paralyzed in the fall.

The case has drawn national attention and generated a debate over whether Clancy can be held criminally liable for her actions.

Clancy's lawyers and her husband don't dispute that she killed her children. However, they argue she is not responsible for her actions since she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, which is a condition afflicting a small percentage of women who give birth and develop delusions and hallucinations after giving birth.

Prosecutors argue that the killings were not the result of someone who was unaware of her actions, and that she planned the killings.

On the day the killings happened, Clancy asked her husband, Patrick, to go out for takeout food and to pick up an item at the pharmacy. She then used exercise bands to strangle her children in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home.

The jury failed to come to a verdict last week, and deliberations are continuing this week.
