A video circulating online has triggered a federal review after a Michigan woman made an apparent threat toward President Donald Trump. The clip shows a woman identified online as Rhonda Lee speaking, threatening Trump. In the recording, she makes repeated references to violence involving a knife and travel to Washington, DC.

In the footage, Lee says, "I have never been a violent person, but I'm about to drive up there with my godd*mn neck knife and give that motherf*cka smiley face across his godd*mn neck."

Trump is not explicitly named in the video, but the remarks were quickly circulated online with users identifying him as the intended target. The clip spread widely within hours and drew calls for law enforcement attention.

The US Secret Service confirmed it is aware of the matter and said it is reviewing potential threats against protected individuals, reports Fox News. Spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said: "Due to the sensitive nature of this work, we are unable to confirm or comment on specific threat cases. However, anything that could be perceived as a threat to the President or any Secret Service protectee is taken extremely seriously and investigated thoroughly."

A LinkedIn profile for Lee stated that she had worked at the University of Michigan Medical Center since 2000. The institution later said she had not been employed there since 2023. Mary Masson, senior director of public relations at Michigan Medicine, said, "We are cooperating with law enforcement to provide any information helpful to their investigation."

Users called for action following the video’s circulation, with posts tagging federal agencies and demanding an investigation.

Threats to the president's life have been taken seriously, especially after the April 25 attempt at his life, which federal authorities charged Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, with attempting to assassinate the president after a security breach at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner venue in Washington, DC.
