Minnesota anarchist TikToker arrested for placing bounty on AG Pam Bondi released without bail

A Minnesota man who was arrested by the FBI for a TikTok post placing a $45,000 bounty on the head of Attorney General Pam Bondi has been released without bail. Tyler Maxon Avalos, 30, of St. Paul, Minnesota, signed a personal recognizance bond on October 22, agreeing to appear for future court proceedings.

Judge Elizabeth Cowan Wright released Avalos on October 22 with GPS monitoring and ordered him to continue his mental health treatment. He was prohibited from using a computer or online services without the approval of his probation officer. The conditions of release also prohibit Avalos from using drugs, alcohol or possessing a firearm, Avalos must submit to a curfew as directed by the pretrial services officer, and submit to a search of his person, residence, and other areas under his control.

Avalos is accused of posting the bounty to TikTok, which featured a "sniper-scope red dot" on Bondi’s head and the words "WANTED: Pam Bondi. REWARD: 45,000. DEAD OR ALIVE (PREFERABLY DEAD)." A TikTok user in Detroit flagged the post. 

"Additionally, the suspect user's TikTok page had a link to An Anarchist FAQ book pinned to his page. According to open-source research, as well as based on Your Affiant's training and experience, 'anarchism' is a political philosophy and movement that seeks to abolish all institutions that perpetuate authority, coercion, or hierarchy, primarily targeting the state and capitalism. Anarchism advocates for the replacement of the state with stateless societies and voluntary free associations," court documents stated.

Avalos has a conviction history spanning multiple states, including a 2022 felony stalking conviction in Minnesota, a 2016 felony third-degree domestic battery conviction in Florida, and a 2016 misdemeanor domestic assault conviction in Minnesota.
