A 19-year-old in New York City has been arrested for allegedly drugging two female college students and raping one in her dorm room while she was unconscious from the drug that ultimately killed her, according to a new indictment.

Moises Freire, 19, was arrested after he brought what he claimed to be cocaine—but was really fentanyl—to two students in their dorms at the Fashion Institute of Technology on March 18, per a newly unsealed indictment.

According to the indictment, Freire told the female students that the drug was cocaine from Mexico and did not contain fentanyl, which he said was "poison." When the two students took the drug, they fell unconscious and had acute fentanyl poisoning, according to prosecutors. The alleged perpetrator, however, did not consume any of the drug and instead raped one of the female students as the other one was unconscious next to them several feet away, the indictment said.

The 19-year-old then waited 45 minutes to contact any campus security and told authorities that they had too much to drink. When security got there, they determined that the women had consumed fentanyl and administered emergency Narcan before going to the hospital. The woman who was raped "never regained consciousness," the indictment said, and she was pronounced dead on March 21.

Freire, before he met up with the women, had met up with Brian Peralta Cabrera and said that he needed drugs that would "last the entire night" and would get the students addicted to the drug, per court documents.

Cabrera and Freire have both been charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance resulting in death and serious bodily injury. The charge carries a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison. Freire was also hit with distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death and one count of distribution of a controlled substance with the intent to commit rape.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch called the crimes "truly unconscionable" and “as sick and twisted as they come,” per the New York Post.

“As alleged in the indictment, the two defendants supplied the fentanyl that killed one young woman and nearly killed another,” Tisch added. “Rather than immediately seek help, Freire allegedly first raped the incapacitated victim who died and then lied to first responders."
