A 30-year-old NYC woman accused of stabbed her 70-year-old father to death at his Queens home earlier this month told police that he was in a cult and had sexually abused her.

Anna Cavak fled to New Jersey after the incident and was arrested by NJ State Police. She was extradited to New York City on Wednesday. NYPD Chief of Detectives, Joseph Kenny, said that the fatal stabbing occurred during an apparent confrontation, per the New York Post

Cavak now faces murder charges for the killing of her father, Peter Cavak, on the morning of June 5. Maria Clement, Cavak's mother, told authorities that she heard screaming coming from the downstairs bedroom, in which her daughter yelled, "He's trying to kill me!"

On June 5 Clement rushed into the bedroom and saw Anna standing over her bloodied husband who was lying on the floor. She reportedly had a stun gun in her hand, police said. Anna told police that her father was in a cult and was sexually abusive. She also blamed her father's behavior for the death of her sister who committed suicide by overdose years prior.

Chief Kenny said that the department received a recent police report from Anna Cavak who accused Peter Cavack of a criminal sex act. Kenny also said Peter was accused of child sex abuse and sex abuse in another complaint, in which his daughter was the alleged victim.

James Clement, Anna's 38-year-old stepbrother, told the NYP that he believes Anna's sex abuse allegations against their father. He said that Anna must have had a "psychotic break" and the killing, which he said was uncalled for, was most likely the result of "an accumulation of neglect from when she was a child, up until she was 30."

"All this stuff didn't happen by coincidence, it didn't just happen because [Anna] woke up one day and did what she did," he said.
