Ohio Woman Charged After Breaking Into Home, Trying To Kidnap 5-Month-Old Baby

( Police Tribune )

An Ohio woman has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a family’s home and trying to kidnap their five-month-old daughter.

The terrifying incident occurred at Cassie Cantrell’s Middletown home on Dec. 30, 2022, after the exhausted mother-of-three fell asleep beside her three children, WXIX reported.

Cantrell said she awoke to find a woman she’d never seen before standing inside her house.

“She had come in about 20-30 minutes after I had fallen asleep and my fiancé had woken up to her standing over top of my daughter,” she told WXIX.

Cantrell said her other two children slept through the ordeal and were covered by a blanket at the time.

She said her finance jumped into action when the strange woman suddenly tried to grab up their five-month-old daughter, WXIX reported.

Police responded to the scene and ultimately arrested 50-year-old Kristie Hubbard on charges of attempted kidnapping and first-degree burglary.

It is unclear why Hubbard targeted the family.

Her next court appearance was scheduled for Jan. 6.

Cantrell told WXIX she hasn’t been able to bring herself to go back home since the near-kidnapping occurred.

“I’m still in disbelief about the whole thing that happened,” she told WXIX. “This is kinda one of those things that you’re like, ‘Oh, this only happens on TV,’ but it happens every day.”

Cantrell said she quit her job over the ordeal so she can be with her children at all times, and that she has them sleep near her now so she can make sure they are safe.

She said the incident left her feeling angry and hurt, and that she is still trying to process what happened, WXIX reported.

“I really still don’t know how to feel about it,” Cantrell told the news outlet. “Somebody does these things to you and it scars you for life.”
