Pentagon identifies soldiers killed by Iranian attack in Jordan as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales

The two US soldier who were killed during an Iranian attack in Jordan on Friday have been identified. The attack was followed by another military death in Iraq announced over the weekend. That soldier's identity has not yet been released.

The soldiers were identified as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas. The Department of Defense said in a statement that they were "killed in action on July 17, 2026, during an enemy attack on July 17, 2026, at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan" and the "incident is under investigation."

Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Gonzales had been assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air Missile Defense Command, in Ansbach, Germany.

The attack took the lives of at least two service members and one soldier was missing directly after the attack took place. Four others were medically evacuated to hospitals after being injured during the attack from Iran.

After the attack in Jordan on Friday was announced, CENTCOM also announced the death of another servicemember who was killed in the "controlled detonation" of an Iranian drone that had landed in Iraq. In a statement, CENTCOM said that the soldier was "killed in action July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone." At the same time as that release, CENTCOM said that there were remains found possibly relating to the soldier who went missing and the military is conducting "an examination process to verify the remains."

The deaths last week bring the total death toll from the war with Iran to 17 after the Trump administration started Operation Epic Fury in Iran on February 28.
