Small Plane Crash in Philadelphia as Homes on Fire: What We Know

A small plane crashed in a residential and retail area in northeast Philadelphia on Friday night, according to multiple media outlets.

CBS 3 reporter Joe Holden posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Philadelphia Police "confirm a small plane crashed in the area of Cottman and the Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia, multiple houses on fire. Unknown injuries at this time."

CBS 3 also reported that Philadelphia Police said two people were on board the plane. There are also reports of injuries on the ground, police said.

Philadelphia Fire posted at 7 p.m. that a "We will not be responding to individual inquiries at this time. Information will be shared here when available."

Chris O'Connell of Philadelphia's Fox 29 posted a user-provided video of the reported crash.

"Building on fire. Heavy smell of jet fuel in the air," O'Connell reported.

The cause of the crash remains unclear at this time, and the status of the victims has not yet been made available.
