According to FOX 5, around 1:30 pm two students at the High School of Graphic Communication Arts in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood started fighting, and both pulled out blades. One was slashed in the chest, the other in the face.
Both sustained minor injuries and were taken into custody.
Jenna Lyle, a spokesperson for the Department of Education, told amNew York, "The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. Violence has absolutely no place in our schools, and this behavior is unacceptable."
"Our outstanding school staff and NYPD School Safety Agents immediately responded to an incident between students at the school, and the school was placed under a soft lockdown, which has now been lifted. We will be providing additional emotional support to any student who needs it."
Across the East River at the Queens High School of Teaching, Liberal Arts and the Sciences Glen Oaks, an 18-year-old student was slashed in the back and arm. The NYPD is still searching for the attacker.
