A transgender-identifying male has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his mother was found dead inside her Laguna Beach home earlier this week.
On Monday, police responded to the residence at around 11 am where they discovered 61-year-old Angela Caprioli deceased. Authorities arrested her 36-year-old child, Safford Wolfson, on suspicion of murder. Police have not yet released details regarding her death.
According to the New York Post, a neighbor said that he witnessed an argument at the home between the two before the killing took place.
“I saw her outside talking with him and it seemed like a pretty hostile conversation,” he said. “She turned around and went inside and slammed the door, like she was fed up with whatever was going on. I was like, ‘What the hell is going on here?'”
Wolfson had reportedly moved into the home six months ago. The neighbor also told CBS Los Angeles, "He was pretty mysterious. He wasn't talking to us, you know, he would come outside, smoke a cigarette and play some guitar.”
Wolfson has reportedly maintained an online presence identifying as a transgender woman. An X account with Wolfson’s name describes the user as a “trans girl looking for fun in LA.” A TikTok account associated with Wolfson contains videos showing Wolfson in dresses, miniskirts, and other female clothing.
Wolfson’s LinkedIn profile identifies him as the co-founder of a dual-diagnosis sober living and assisted adult care facility that provides mental health services. In a 2024 Facebook post, Wolfson wrote, "Not even my mom wants to hang out with me man… talk about lame-o!"
