President Donald Trump has suggested that progress is being made on the Russia-Ukraine peace plan after he put more pressure on Ukraine to bring the conflict to an end last week. He said that the deal may be "something good," signaling he would back the proposed peace deal.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Is it really possible that big progress is being made in Peace Talks between Russia and Ukraine??? Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"

Last week, Trump pressed for Ukraine to sign a peace deal with Russia by Thanksgiving or the country would face the loss of intelligence sharing with the US as well as weapons deals. Ukraine will have to give up some land under the plan. Zelensky has previously stated that Ukraine was not willing to give up any land to Russia.

Over the weekend, Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva, Switzerland, and that talks were “productive and meaningful.”

"So I think the takeaway from it is, I think this is a very, very meaningful, I would say, probably best meeting and day we've had so far in this entire process, going back to when we first came to office in January," Rubio told reporters of the meeting.

He added that both Russia and Ukraine will have to sign off on the deal, but suggested that a deal would be reached between the two countries. "Obviously, we now have to take what we come up with, if we can reach that agreement with the Ukrainian side, to the Russian side,” Rubio continued. “They have to agree to this in order for this to work."

Rubio added that they are working to finish negotiations on the deal "as soon as possible."
