A media outlet affiliated with a radical preacher in Dearborn, Michigan, has posted a video calling on Muslims to celebrate and repeat the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, and praising the killing as justified under Islamic law.

On October 10, Project Guiding Light published a 39-minute video titled "The Fate of Charlie Kirk: The Insulter of the Messenger [Prophet Muhammad] and His Ruling According to Islam.” The video, which was distributed on YouTube, X, Instagram, and Telegram, applauded Kirk’s death as a "praiseworthy action" that should be celebrated and repeated.

The video begins with clips of Muslims condemning Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin of Kirk, then criticizes these Muslims as "clowns" and "sellouts." The narrator asks, "To see these clowns rush to condemn such an act in the name of Islam that had nothing to do with Islam or the Muslims to begin with begs a question: What is their motive for such a swift and unsolicited condemnation? Who are they trying to appease?" The video goes on to state, “Muslims should be rejoicing and thanking Allah" for the death of Kirk.

The video also asserted that Kirk had insulted the Muslim prophet Muhammad and argued that his murder is permitted under Islamic law.

"Whoever insults the Prophet or disparages him, whether Muslim or disbeliever, then he is to be killed," the video stated. "What greater enemy to the Sharia [Islamic law] is there than someone who insults the Messenger and by extension Allah?"

Comments posted under the video included responses from fellow Muslims endorsing violence against those who insult Mohammad.

Project Guiding Light is affiliated with preacher Ahmad Musa Jibril. The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has described Jibril as a "most popular cleric amongst Western jihadis," who has influenced "ISIS supporters and militants.” MEMRI also reported that Jibril served six and a half years in prison for conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, and possession of firearms and ammunition, and that after his 2012 release, he was banned from internet access for three years.

A senior US official told the Washington Free Beacon that authorities are aware of the radical messaging promoted by Project Guiding Light and others celebrating Kirk’s murder.

While Jibril is a US citizen, the official noted that the administration has revoked visas for at least six foreigners who have praised Kirk's killing. The source said, "Any individual on a visa is a guest in our country," adding, “If he or she chooses to promote violence against Americans, including patriots like Charlie Kirk, then they are no longer welcome here. It's as simple as that."
