With less than a week to go before Election Day, businesses in Portland, Oregon are preparing for the worst. Many are taking precautions in case there is any post-election fallout, as riots have ensued in the city after previous elections, however, the leftist bookstore owner is not concerned over the matter.

According to KATU News, Portland Police on Wednesday as well as other city leaders gathered to discuss the violence that has already occurred with ballots being burned in drop-off boxes. However, some are not so concerned over possible election fallout, including Katherine Morgan, the leftist owner of Grand Gesture Books. The Instagram page for the store says it is "Queer Black woman owned." “When I got the business, the windows were boarded up because of the protest, and they just never came down. For me, if people choose to riot, I feel like we need to listen to the people," owner of Grand Gesture Books Katherine Morgan told the outlet.

“People won’t listen sometimes unless you resort to causing a commotion, and if causing a commotion is how the word gets out and people express themselves, who am I to be like, ‘Oh, no! This isn’t the right way!'" she added.

Morgan does not feel the need to board up her business, “I’m someone who believes in protesting, I’m someone who believes in doing whatever you can for your voice to be heard."

According to the website, Grand Gesture Books is " a new Black woman-owned romance bookstore located in Portland, Oregon." The website indicates that the book categories include a "Grand Gesture for Gaza," "Contemporary Romances," LGBTQ-related books, as well as "Swelce Sweethearts" or "Travis and Taylor in Book Form" among others.
