The mother of a 5-year-old who was found beaten to death in her home in Queens on Monday admitted to the 911 operator: "I killed my daughter," according to a new report.

The mother, Francis Cabello, made the admission just before police were sent to 110th Street near 95th Avenue in South Richmond Hill on Wednesday, the New York Post reported. The mother was waiting at the front door when police arrived. She told them when they entered the home, "She's upstairs not breathing."

The 5-year-old girl, identified as Fabiana Cabello, was found unresponsive and lying on the ground with blood coming out of her nose. Although she had a weak pulse, efforts to revive her were not successful as emergency personnel took her to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Her mother appeared to be emotionless and did not shed tears over the incident when she was taken away in handcuffs, a neighbor told the outlet. “She was not crying, it was like nothing happened,” he said. “It’s too much emotions together. I feel sad for the child.”

The neighbor remembered the girl as a young and happy child always wanting to give him hugs when she saw him. Erika Santiago, 43, who lives across the street, had heard “a lot of yelling” before police showed up on Wednesday evening.

“I heard about this when I woke up this morning at 6 o’clock and it’s absolutely devastating, devastating,” the mother of two said. “And it’s right across the street and they brought her to the hospital I work at. It’s so close to home.”

The mother's father, Franklin Cabello, told reporters that the mother "wasn't 100 percent there." He said that the mother had been off her psych meds and was hospitalized just three months before the daughter was killed.

“I wouldn’t say that she would be capable of doing damage to the child because she’s a mom that was protective over her kid. She was attentive. I never would have thought she would have done something like this,” he said. “The family is distraught.”

The father said that he had been trying to keep an eye on his daughter, worried that she was spiralling.

“I was paying attention because she was already acting strange,” he said. “I knew that she stopped taking the medication. I used to tell her to take her medication. She said the doctor authorized her to stop taking the medicine.

“I found it hard to believe because in her predicament I was surprised that the doctor would authorize that without seeing her,” he added. “I did not know if it was true or false.”
