A CLEAR CONSCIENCE

A follower of Christ should always be kind, honest, and loving. "[K]eeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander" (1 Peter 3:16). Even the worldly feel guilt when they talk badly about someone who has always shown them kindness and love. A person who is known for their integrity is esteemed by the world. So, how can a person feel good about disparaging one who is kind, honest, and loving? This is what this scripture is referring to. If it makes it harder for the world to attack you, then it makes your life less troubling. If you live your life in such a manner, you are blessed. The Scripture tells us, "Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing" (1 Peter 3:9). We all want to live our lives with less outside trouble and with a promised blessing from God, and this is the way to do it. Living this way makes your life happier and gives you a blessing. As verse 16 said, keeping a clear conscience is always a good way to live our lives.
