A COLD WORLD

By: Linda Kirby/WGON

Don’t let the enemy turn your heart cold. If your heart turns cold against the unsaved, you stop praying for them, you stop being kind and gracious. "Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in His kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off" (Romans 11:22). Allowing this evil world to extinguish the fire for God within us will alter the way we present ourselves and our God to the world. There is much pressure for us to keep our heads down, our faith private, and to keep others at arm’s length. We can’t share the good news of Jesus Christ that way. By appearing cold to others, we close off the opportunity to share Jesus with them. When evil is on the rise, it is easy to become jaded -- you begin to wonder, “What’s the point?” It is easy to feel that being all-in and sold-out for Jesus Christ just isn’t worth it. You can remember better days when you were on fire for the Lord, but now a kind of lethargy has crept over your soul and you no longer feel as you once felt. You have let the coldness of the world extinguish your fire. “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord” (Romans 12:11). So, serve the Lord with a warm heart when the days are cold and dark. Pray that God will use your life to reach others using kindness, love, and grace which will glorify God.
