FREE WILL

God created us with free will. The freedom to choose life over death, salvation over damnation. We are all born into sin. It will be up to each of us to follow his sin nature or follow God’s will. Jeremiah 17: 9 states, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" The Bible is clear -- in our natural state, we are incapable of choosing that which is good and holy. But when the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and draws us to Him, He gives us the power to accept Jesus as our Savior. We are given the revelation of His truth and God enables us to come to Him. Until then, we are constrained by our nature, just as the prisoner is constrained by his prison cell. The prisoner has the free will to walk back and forth in his cell but he can’t leave; his free will is limited to his bondage of sin. So, God freed us from this bondage with the death of His Son on the cross. We are free to make our choice, death or life. Aren’t we glad that Jesus released us from our captors and gave us His gift of salvation? Let’s show the world Jesus’ sacrifice by spreading the good news of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us that we are to plead with others to be reconciled to God before it is too late. Share the good news, and give a lost and dying world the opportunity to choose life over death.
