GOD’S GOODNESS, SMALL AND LARGE

God’s goodness is unfolding in both the seen and the unseen realm. In the unusual moments, and also in the mundane ones. It always cheers our heart when we take the time to look at all the goodness God gives us. I remember the time when I went to my car but realized I had forgotten my keys, so I went back into the house and retrieved them. When I got on the road and reached the first stop light, about three blocks from my house, there had been a horrible accident. Had I not forgotten my keys, that might have been me. God’s goodness protected me. That sort of reminded me of Psalm 23:6a, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life . . .” Notice the word, “follow”? It’s not that His goodness will happen to us every now and then, but it actually follows us around and we receive it constantly. Our God is a generous God. By nature, He longs to bring joy and blessing to all His creatures. The next time you get depressed, just stop for a moment and take a good look at your day and you will see all the goodness, small and large, that God has poured out on you. That should cheer anyone up! "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever" (1 Chronicles 16:34).
