I used to think that rearranging my room was just about comfort—making space for my plants, my coffee station, my tech setup, and my ministry work. Every corner had a purpose, every table a task. But then life shifted, and I had to pivot. My health changed. My mobility narrowed. And suddenly, the room that once served me so well became a maze of obstacles. That’s when I heard it—not audibly, but deep in my spirit: “Girl, you need to change this room.”
It wasn’t just a decorating decision. It was a pivot. A holy audible.
Like a quarterback on the field, I had to call a new play—not because I’d failed, but because the field had changed. What once worked beautifully now needed to be reimagined. And God, the ultimate Coach, wasn’t surprised. He’d already seen the shift coming. He was just waiting for me to call it out loud.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9
I had my layout, my routines, my ministry mapped out—but God saw the shift coming. He wasn’t asking me to abandon the plan, just to trust Him with the pivot.
Once the Coach and I were on the same page, He began to whisper the next steps. I had to scan the field for tacklers coming from every direction—spiritual, physical, emotional. I had to lay things out so that whatever came at me could be met with grace and readiness. Just like the football players have to “suit up” with protective gear, we too have to put on the full armour of God.
Life is changing fast. The change is not positive. Some of us fine financial change, relationship changes, sickness or even death in the playbook, but we know God, our Coach, has the plan for us and all we have to do is follow His direction. Like the football players having on their armour, we too, should suit up with the Armour of God and be ready for that change. My Coach—my blessed Savior—spoke, and I listened. I did what needed to be done.
I may not move like I used to, but I’m still in the game. I’m still following the Coach’s lead.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8:
