Inspirational: When God Says ‘Not Yet’: Trump and Iran

By: Linda Kirby/WGON 8.3.26
The Moment Everyone Is Talking About
President Trump has once again pulled back from striking Iran. The perimeter of a deal is forming, Saudi Arabia urged restraint, and the strike was called off.
People online are arguing about:
politics
strategy
weakness
strength
timing
motives
But I’m looking at it through a different lens — a biblical one.
Because every time Trump gets ready to strike hard, something stops him. And knowing Trump’s personality — stubborn, bold, decisive — that alone tells me something bigger is at work.
I’ve seen God restrain leaders before. I’ve seen Him redirect nations. I’ve seen Him slow down events that looked inevitable.
This moment feels exactly like that.
Why Saudi’s Warning Matters
Saudi Arabia reportedly asked the U.S. not to strike Iran’s infrastructure, because Iran would retaliate against Saudi’s infrastructure.
Now, Trump loves deals. He loves money. He loves protecting U.S. interests. And Saudi has poured enormous financial commitments into the U.S. economy.
So when Saudi says “don’t,” Trump listens.
But here’s the part people miss:
God knows exactly what influences a leader. And He uses those influences to steer them.
This isn’t about Trump being weak. It’s about God being in control.
The Prophetic Angle
Some people think Iran’s regrouping is a bad thing. But Scripture shows us that God often allows nations time to:
reorganize
rearm
reposition
rebuild
before major prophetic events.
Russia is depleted from Ukraine. Iran is reorganizing. Turkey is shifting politically.
To me, that says:
The Ezekiel war isn’t “now.” But the stage is being set.
Not rushed. Not chaotic. Not random.
Ordered. Timed. Restrained. Purposeful.
Throughout history
Throughout history, God has directed and redirected movements in war to protect His plan, His prophecies. Case in point is WWII, many redirection took place that changed the enemies plans, to further God’s plans. All of Israel’s wars had God’s hand all over them. Thus, I believe He is stopping Trump from entering a conflict that would derail God’s timing, His plan, His prophecies. Should Trump send Iran back to the stone ages as he has mentioned he would do, then Iran would not be able to take part in the Ezekiel war prophesied in Ezekiel 38/39. So, God is using the US military to punish Iran for attacking Israel on Oct. 7th, but not to destroy them completely.
Man may have their plans, but God’s plan is bigger than any leader’s impulse.
He restrains what needs restraining. He delays what needs delaying. He redirects what needs redirecting.
The Point
This isn’t about politics. This isn’t about predicting prophecy. This isn’t about cheering for one nation over another.
It’s about recognizing the pattern.
When something should happen — but doesn’t — God is often the One holding the reins.
And right now, I see His hand clearly.
Just like I did during the amazing turns of events in WWII, during the miracles in Israel’s wars.
Just like I have throughout Scripture when God redirected Israel’s enemies.
Just like I do today.
God is still in control… dah!
