REJECTION, A GOOD THING?

By: Linda Kirby/WGON

Although we may experience rejection from family, friends, or society; we should realize that many in the Bible were rejected, as well. It seems that God’s people are always looked down upon, deserted, and despised. We must be careful to walk closer with the Lord when we are rejected, and not allow the hurt to make us bitter. The longer we allow ourselves to feel the hurt of rejection, the more it will affect our relationship with God and others. Our self-esteem can become so low that we start to doubt if God loves us and if His words can possibly apply to us! But His Word is clear and we need to look there for the truth of who we are! "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 149:14). If man rejects you, it doesn’t change who you are, nor does it affect your worth. We are reminded that we are different from the world in Romans 12:2, 1 Peter 2:9, and John 15:19. We are set apart; thus, that makes us a rejected people. Count that as a good thing. "If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you" (John 15:19).
