SLAVERY

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’” – Romans 8:14-15

Today’s world is filled with fear around every corner. If you watch the news, you see people killing one another, you see sickness everywhere, you hear rumors of war -- you can’t get away from the fearful reports. Add to that the fear in our own lives: putting food on the table, keeping a roof over our heads, worrying about our own health and that of our families and friends. There seems to be no end to fear these days. But, as Scripture says, we have the Spirit of God in us. He will see to our every need. We must remember, He has taken care of us thus far, so fear is not for us. Fear is for the slaves. They chose to be a slave to fear. In prayer, we ask our Father in heaven to provide what we need. We don’t worry about it, we don’t stress over it, and we don’t doubt He will provide. Yes, it’s hard sometimes, when everything is hitting us all at once; but we must remember that Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Let’s take that to the bank.
