Inspirational: THAT TO-DO LIST

THAT TO-DO LIST

By: unknown

Many of us are so busy today, that finding time to do anything extra would really be hard to do. Sometimes, we take on responsibilities that we just don’t have the time for. We mean well, and are enthused to do it but as time goes on, we find we are having to put that new endeavor on the bottom of the list of things to do. We all get that because we’ve all done that. However, when we take on a work for the Lord, we just can’t put it at the bottom of our priorities list. It should stay at the top and you work your day around it. Unfortunately, we don’t do that. We really think we will get to it before the day is out, but frankly, there just wasn’t enough time in the day. There may be times when we’ve over extended ourselves the day before and we are extremely tired the next day so we drop everything to get some rest. Sometimes, new wrinkles in our day occur and we find ourselves moving things down to make room for the new issues. “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might...” Ecclesiastes 9:10a. Yes, God expects us to put ourselves into our work, not just work for ourselves but work for the Kingdom. We are to give it all our might, not put it on the bottom of our to-do list. When we take on a work for the Lord, let’s do it with gusto. Someone once said, “The secret of a happy life is giving God the first part of your day, the first priority to every decision, and the first place in your heart.” Remember, when you put other things before God, that becomes your god, an idol. When we think of idols, images and gold statues come to mind. Biblically speaking, however, an idol is anything that takes priority over God in our lives. Our crazy to-do list has consumed so much of our day that God has been pushed to the back burner. Or worse… I’ll put “spending time with God” on the list – in other words, I’ll get to Him eventually when all of my other tasks are complete. Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. – Colossians 3:23-34
